Fun N Sun Complex

(Date unknown)

This children's park was a true community effort beginning with a group of mothers wanting to see (as part of the Smallwood Heritage Complex) a facility to provide recreational facilities for their young children. They set out to upgrade an existing outdoor swimming pool and add a play area. The parents held various fund-raisers, including a telethon that rang in $25,000. Local loggers cut the wood for free, local mills sawed the timber into lumber for free, local businesses chipped in with free gas and oil for machines and equipment.

The children's park has evolved over the years and now includes a playground, natural outdoor swimming pool, a splash pad, a volleyball court and an outdoor ice rink.
